Gas Network Update – Laird Street Area – Dundee – Possible Disruption

Dear {FIRST_NAME}, This message is distributed on behalf of Scottish Gas Networks.I’m writing to let you know from Friday, 20 May we’ll begin a £510,000 upgrade of our gas network in the Laird Street area of Dundee.   Worton Utilities, on our behalf is carrying out gas mains replacement of old metallic mains with modern, flexible polyethylene (PE) pipes and will ensure our network is ready for green sources of energy, such as hydrogen. To minimise disruption, we’ll be carrying out our work in phases as follows:Phase 1 – 20 May –  24 June – approximately five weeks – We’ll begin work in Drumlithie Place, Kinneff Crescent, and Garvock Place. There will be no traffic management required for this phase.  Phase 2a –  13 June – 1 August – approximately seven weeks – we will be working in Kinnettles Terrace, Strathmartine Road, Gorrie Terrace, Collace Crescent and Brackens Road. During the time we are working on Strathmartine Road it will be necessary to have two-way temporary traffic lights in place from the junction of Sidlaw Avenue to the junction of Inchyra Place. Phase 2b – 4 July – 12 August – approximately six weeks – we will be working on Laird Street at the junction of Drumlithie Place Phase 3 – 11 July – 26 September –  approximately 11 weeks – We’ll be from outside no 7 Laird Street to the roundabout. We’ll then be working on St Fillan’s Place, Macalpine Road, St Mary’s Road and St Leonard Road to outside St Andrew’s Primary School.  During our work access will be maintained for emergency vehicles. We’re aware that Strathmartine Road and Macalpine Road are particularly busy. There are also two primary schools located within the area of our works – Craigowl Primary School and St Andrew’s Primary School and we’re aiming to carry out our work near the schools during the summer holiday period.  We’re working closely with Scottish Government to make sure we carry out our project in line with all current coronavirus safety guidance. We have extra safety precautions in place to protect our colleagues and our communities from the virus. Our colleagues will be keeping to social distancing guidelines on our sites, and we’d ask communities to keep their distance too. There’s more information about our coronavirus response on our website: sgn.co.uk/coronavirus If you have any other enquiries about this project, please don’t hesitate to contact me or to call our Customer Service Centre on 0800 912 1700.
