Major gas replacement works in the Sighthill area of Edinburgh (Neighbourhood Watch Scotland)

The following message is being circulated on behalf of SGNWe’ll shortly begin work to upgrade our gas network in the Sighthill, area of Edinburgh. This work involves replacing our metallic gas mains with new plastic pipe, ensuring a continued safe and reliable gas supply to the local community for many years to come. We’ve planned our work in close consultation with the local authorities to reduce disruption as much as possible. Our project will begin on Monday 17 January and will take approximately 10 weeks to complete. During this project local diversion routes will be in place. To gain safe access to our apparatus on street parking will also be suspended throughout the area. Access will be given to driveways and garages at all times unless previously agreed with the occupier. As works will be carried out on a phased basis not all restrictions will be in place at the same time.We will be required to close Wester Hailes Road at the junction with Sighthill Road as well as preventing vehicular traffic travelling east along Sighthill Road from Wester Hailes Road. Local diversion routes will be in place during this time. This restriction will only be in operation towards the end of our project which is scheduled for mid-March 2022.Road closures:Road closure – no through road• Sighthill Road junction with Wester Hailes Road (east bound)• Wester Hailes Road junction with Sighthill Road• Wester Hailes Road lane closure south boundParking suspensions:• Wester Hailes Road between Sighthill Loan and Sighthill Road• Sighthill Road between Wester Hailes Road and Sighthill View• Sighthill View between Sighthill Road and Sighthill Loan• Sighthill Place – full street• Sighthill Terrace between Sighthill Loan and Sighthill Park• Sighthill Loan between Sighthill Terrace and Sighthill Gardens• Sighthill Gardens – full street• Sighthill Park – full streetEmergency vehicle access will be maintained throughout our works. We will be required to close Wester Hailes Road at the junction with Sighthill Road as well as preventing vehicular traffic travelling east along Sighthill Road from Wester Hailes Road.
