Perth & Kinross Local Area Commander’s Bulletin  Wednesday 29th June 2022 Combating Drug Misuse in Perth PrisonOfficers have been working in partnership with the Scottish Prison Service at HMP Perth to tackle drugs entering the prison.Between Wednesday 22nd and Friday 24th June, officers carried out both covert and overt patrols around the perimeter of HMP Perth and the surrounding areas. Specialist resources, including mounted branch and high-visibility patrols, were deployed during the final day of the operations (Friday 24th June) to deter any offending.During our covert activity, officers stopped and searched 4 men, including one man who was flying a drone near the prisons, and advice was given to each individual.PC Scott Birrell, Prison Liaison Officer, said: “Tackling drug misuse within prisons is a priority for Police Scotland and this significant operation reinforces our determination to target criminals. Drug misuse brings nothing but misery and people’s lives can be ruined. We will continue to use every tool and tactic at our disposal to remove these illegal substances from our prisons.”“We depend on the continued support from our partners and local communities and I would urge anyone who has any information or concerns surrounding drugs to contact police”A Scottish Prison Service spokesperson said: “The SPS is committed to tackling the harms caused by misuse of contraband substances in our prisons.” UPDATESA 43 year old man will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal for riding an unregistered e-scooter in Dunkeld Road, Perth on Tuesday 21st June. He also had no licence, no insurance and no MOTA 32 year old man was arrested for stealing a handbag and contents from a property in Rannoch Road, Perth on Wednesday 22nd June.A 32 year old man will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal for theft of a white Vauxhall Astra from Viewfield Place, Perth on Thursday 23rd June. The vehicle has since been recovered.A 34 year old man will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal for purchasing alcohol for an underage person from a shop in North Methven Street, Perth on Saturday 25th June. On the same date a 46 year old female was charged for purchasing alcohol for youths in County Place, PerthA 32 year old man was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon in Smillie Place, Bridge of Earn on Thursday 23rd June.During the last week 7 drivers have been found to be without insurance, 3 had no licence and 2 had no MOT.RECENT INCIDENTSOfficers are currently investigating a series of thefts and attempted thefts from vehicles and properties in the Craigend, Letham and Tulloch areas of Perth between Friday 24th and Saturday 25th June. (CR/28884/22)About 11:15pm, Friday 24th June, a window was smashed at a property in Taymouth Holiday Centre, Kenmore. (CR/29215/22)About 1:15pm, Monday 27th June, a window was smashed at a property in Cargill Place, Rattray. (CR/29232/22)Between 7pm and 8pm, Thursday 23rd June, a red Vauxhall Adam was stolen from Lochran Farm, Blairadam. (CR/28445/22)About 1:45pm, Saturday 25th June, a man was disturbed in the rear yard of Café Kisa, High Street, Auchterarder. He made off in a white Ford Transit Van.
