What is Neighbourhood Alert?

Neighbourhood Alert is a secure community messaging system which allows key information providers to email registered users with reliable, localised, targeted and timely Alerts on issues of crime, safety and resilience.  This keeps local people informed about issues affecting their area in a timely manner.

Current information providers include Neighbourhood Watch Scotland, Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Local Authorities and Get Safe Online.

Alerts provide the recipient with information to take a course of action, provide advice, provide information and include a point of contact for reporting.

Why should I register?

Our most general messages provide information on current scams, crimes, emergency repairs utility companies will be carrying out, community issues as well as advice and reassurance.

Registered users can choose interest groups, what message types they wish to receive and from whom. Users also have the ability to rate, reply and share messages, contribute information and answer surveys.

You can also, if you wish, join your local Neighbourhood Watch or set one up.

How do I sign up to receive Alert messages?

To register please click the “Sign up to Alerts” bar at the top of the page and follow the steps prompted.

If you wish you can join or set up a Neighbourhood Watch.

Messages are generally issued by email, although if a matter of urgency the message can be sent by text or voicemail.

How much does it cost?

The system is completely free to all users.
